TEACHERS NOTICE

TECHNOLOGY

Year 7&8 students going to Moerewa School every Tuesday to do woodwork and food technology. The bus leaves at 8.55am and will return to school at 2.45pm. All students must wear full uniform which includes shoes. They also need to bring a lined exercise book and a pencil every week. Technology will start in week 1 next term.

HISTROY FIELD TRIP

Dear Whānau,

We intend on taking Year 7-13 students on a local history field trip to Ohaeawai and Ruapekapeka on Wednesday 26th June. This trip will form the basis of our developing local history curriculum and is an integral part of the NCEA credit programme.

There is no cost for the trip but please ensure that students arrive on time at school and have a rain jacket incase of a downpour. School uniform is mandatory although appropriate trainers can be worn – no crocs please!

We shall depart from school at 9am and return at 2.50pm in time for buses.

STUDENT NOTICES

STORY WRITING

During the school holidays and at the start of term, Primary held a short-story writing competition to foster and celebrate creativity, imagination, and literacy amongst the students. Students were encouraged to submit a story that was less than 50 words with every entry guaranteed a prize. With a huge number of entries, it proved very difficult to pick the winners as we appreciated each student’s entry. Ultimately, we ended up with the following prize-winners:

Year 1/2 – 1st – Manaia Heteraka, 2nd – Lilly Brown & Amariah Sadler, 3rd – Arkzion Remerata

Year 3/4 – 1st – Brian Shaw, 2nd – Tyson Jonathan, 3rd – Paisleigh Naihi & Te Whawhai Clarke

Year 5/6 – 1st – Gloria Naera, 2nd – Neveah Sylva, 3rd – Kaharau Reihana

The competition served as a platform for students to showcase their talents and inspire one another in the pursuit of literary excellence. We hope to hold the event yearly.

In technology class students are seeking feedback about futuristic product ideas. It is a good way of improving the active communication with whanau about their child’s learning. Please give our students a couple minutes of your time to fill out their questioners.

The Ministry of Education does not fund building related costs at our School. Attendance Dues are only used to pay for building related costs. They can not be used for any other purposes. Paying Attendance Dues is a condition of enrolment for all students attending our School. Attendance Dues are compulsory – there is a legal requirement for parents and caregivers to pay Attendance Dues under the Education and Training Act 2020. They are not a donation.
