PRINCIPAL’S NOTICE
Tena koutou whanau ma – warm greetings to everyone
At this time of the year, the school always seems very different. Senior students have by and large finished their work and have ended their school year, apart from some who are putting last minute touches to their mahi before submitting it. It is also a time where we are looking towards next year and making plans around class composition, sizes and rooms. Because the Lord has given us stable numbers in our school roll we are able proceed with this process with reasonable clarity – we are still praying for two new teachers in the English and Science departments.
Again, as we draw close to the end of the school year I would like to bring to your attention several important events that are on our horizon.
In the last week of the term we will hold our Junior and Middle School Prize-Giving assemblies. We will begin on Monday the 9th December with the Certificates of Recognition awards for our Primary students. This begins at 10:00am and we invite our whanau to come in and join with us in a ‘Whanau Event’, finishing at about 12:00.
The next day (10th December) we will be running our annual ‘Beach Day’. This will be at Tii Bay, Paihia.
Wednesday 11th December is the Primary school Prize-Giving starting at 9:30a.m., followed by the Middle School Prize-Giving at 11:30a.m..
Although the school will be open for the remainder of that week we will be setting up for 2025 and will therefore not be running normal classes.
2025 Enrolments
As discussed in previous newsletters, our school roll is very healthy – something we are very thankful for, first to the Lord and also to our whanau who have entrusted the education, care and wellbeing of their children to us. We are taking enrolments for 2025 and urge whanau who are considering enrolling here to act quickly to secure a place in the school as places are fast being taken up.
Camps Next Year
This is an early signal that we are running two camps at the beginning of next year. One, a Year 7 & 8 camp at Urupukapuka Island with senior student leaders mentoring our younger students. This will be run on the 3rd, 4th and 5th February. The second camp is the Primary Summer Camp, to be run on the 12th and 13th March.
Waitangi Day (public holiday) is on Thursday the 6th in that second week. To avoid a ‘stop-start’ week we will also close the school on the 7th (Friday) and resume on Monday 10th February.

TEACHERS NOTICE
Dear Parents, as part of our financial literacy programme the year 9 and 10’s are preparing for an annual market day. They have had to create a business and participate in all the work that is involved in the running of their business. Our students will be selling their merchandise, food, goods and services from the hall on Wednesday the 4th of December. The doors will be open from 9.30am onwards. Each business will have a stall which they will man. This is an invite in advance to please support this initiative. I look forward to seeing parents/ caregivers, grandparents and members of the public on this day.

STUDENTS ADVERTS
On Wednesday 4th December 2024. Year 9-10 will be running a market at the Kaikohe Christian School in the hall. There will be many different stores to go and take a visit to. So if you’re not busy feel free and welcome to come down and visit. Mindys Midday Munchies! They will be selling cake pops and S’mores pops. These are very unique and scrumptious treats. Cake pops will be $2.50 and the S’mores pops will be $2.00. You will have the whole day to decide whether to come down because we will be selling our products from 9.30am – 2pm. I hope you enjoy!

This term our year 9/10 is having a MARKET DAY on Wednesday 4th December 2024. My group is selling homemade designer jewelry and delicious food to complement it. This will help my group learn how to run a business for profit on a small scale.

WHAT ARE ATTENDANCE DUES?
The Ministry of Education does not fund building related costs at our School. Attendance Dues are only used to pay for building related costs. They can not be used for any other purposes. Paying Attendance Dues is a condition of enrolment for all students attending our School. Attendance Dues are compulsory – there is a legal requirement for parents and caregivers to pay Attendance Dues under the Education and Training Act 2020. They are not a donation.
