THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength.

Principles Notice

Tena koutou whanau ma – warm greetings to everyone.

This coming Friday sees the first roll-out of our new reports to parents for students in years 7 to 13. Primary reports to parents, also in a new format will be sent home on Monday 17th March. There has been a lot of planning and setup going on in the background and I am pleased with the way the reports look.

Although fairly self explanatory, I will take the time here to just highlight the main features and information.

Both Primary and Secondary reports are in the form of ‘snapshot’ information and will be sent out twice this term, three times (weeks 3, 6, & 9) in terms two and three, and twice (weeks 3 & 6) in term four.

The reports for year 7 to 13 students also have email links to classroom and subject teachers for whanau to make contact regarding any queries you may have.

In term two, towards the end, we will have our normal formal parent interviews.

As discussed, the reports are a snapshot and give feedback to whanau on learning and progress, attitude and engagement ant attendance. They also show the current achievements in each subject, for example, test results, assessment results and grades.

The aim with this new approach is to keep you right up to date with how your children are getting on at school. There are still other refinements to be added to the report and these include recognitions, awards and acknowledgements for sports or cultural representation at regional, national and international levels.

A quick reminder whanau, that we are coming towards the end of the term. School finishes this term on the 11th April and returns on the 28th April. This year, both Easter and ANZAC Day happen within the holidays.

Philippians 4:8 ESV Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

REMINDER

Kia Ora Parents & Caregivers, Just a reminder when collecting your children before school finishes can you please come to the school office first to sign your children out. Outreach kaupapa
Tena koutou te Whanau o KCS
Our senior akonga are starting an outreach kaupapa in our kura as a way of reaching out and serving in our community for Jesus. There is so much need in our area for practical help with resources etc. We are asking if any whanau in our school community have any EXCESS ITEMS laying around at home, bring them into school and we will distribute out to people in need. Matua Monte Tito serves every day by giving out the left over lunches from all the schools in Kaikohe. He collects homewares from many sources and helps whanau who are moving into houses or starting over. We must show the Love of the Father and be a light in our communities. Below is a list of examples of gear that could be a blessing to others;
Household wares eg, couches, drawers, beds etc
clothes, shoes
furniture
food items
toiletries, hygiene items
We will also be going back to the old peoples home in Kaikohe to serve our kaumatua and kuia. We will send out more details about this kaupapa soon.
We greatly appreciate your koha in advance.

 Technology Woodwork

To all those parents who enjoy tinkering, or working in wood

Our school this year has the fantastic opportunity of offering hard materials technology wood to our students. To this effect we are setting up a room to facilitate this new venture. I am keen to hear from any parent who are having a shed clean up or have spare woodworking tools and machinery which they are not presently using. Your donation to this venture will be greatly accepted. You can be assured that all the tools and equipment will be used to the benefit of all our students. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

Mr. Torr  Deputy Principal and technology teacher

WHAT ARE ATTENDANCE DUES?

The Ministry of Education does not fund building related costs at our School. Attendance Dues are only used to pay for building related costs. They can not be used for any other purposes.  Paying Attendance Dues is a condition of enrolment for all students attending our School. Attendance Dues are compulsory – there is a legal requirement for parents and caregivers to pay Attendance Dues under the Education and Training Act 2020. They are not a donation.
