THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE
He is good to everyone, and his compassion is intertwined with
everything he does.
Psalm 145:9
PRINCIPAL’S NOTICE
Tena koutou whanau ma – warm greetings to everyone
Nau mai, haere mai. Welcome back to school for this third term of 2024.
We started the term by welcoming in two new staff members, Rob Torr (our new Deputy Principal) and Kendal Cook (teaching in our Junior School), along with their support teams. We are really looking forward to working alongside Rob and Kendal going forward.
At the end of the week we bid final farewell to David Prickett who has graciously agreed to stay on for this first week of term to help Rob assimilate into the DP role – Thank you David. Please whanau, join us at the Friday afternoon assembly to wish David and Laura well.
This term, among other things, we are looking to take a group of seniors away again to the University Open days in Auckland – in the past, this has been an important opportunity for our students to gain a wider perspective of what may be ‘out there’ for them to consider in their career and/or vocational pathways. For those of you who have the Skool-Loop app, we will try and get permission trip forms set up there for you to complete, however, we will also send paper forms in case this is too difficult.
September Numeracy and Literacy Exams
In September, the external Literacy and Numeracy exams will be held. This is a very important time for our Year 10 and 11 students who need to be successful with these assessments to be able to progress through the NCEA courses throughout their senior secondary years. We have established additional classroom support for our students in these two subject areas and will be asking for your support as we monitor the final learning that is to take place in preparation for success. Our subject teachers will be providing an outline of the student work schedule soon.
Enrolments
Our school roll is at capacity which means unfortunately that we are not permitted to accept any new enrolments until later in the year. For new enrolments, I recommend that whanau make contact with the school as soon as possible and ensure we have the names and details of students wishing to enrol so we can get them onto the wait-list. This will give the best chance of getting students into the school in a timely manner. I anticipate being able to open up the roll again in late October to bring new students in before the end of the year in order that we have a smooth start to the following year.
Psalm 122 I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
2 Our feet have been standing
within your gates, O Jerusalem!
3 Jerusalem—built as a city
that is bound firmly together,
4 to which the tribes go up,
the tribes of the Lord,
as was decreed for[a] Israel,
to give thanks to the name of the Lord.
Blessings to all
David Rogers

TEACHERS NOTICE
STUDENT ELECTIONS
Kia ora Whanau
That time of year has come around to nominate a new student rep for 2025. Your children will be sent home with a School Board Election-Student Election Notice next week Monday 5th August. This panui will have all the information to help you nominate a Student. The Student rep must be from year 7-13. I wish all the candidates the best of luck, and I look forward to seeing the new Student Board member in action. Please return nominating sheet to the office when you have finished thank you.
ROAD SAFETY
We have noticed some poor examples from parents walking in front of cars and buses with their student/child in to traffic. We are asking if you please may use the Crossing that is available as it is teaching out students bad habits.

WHAT ARE ATTENDANCE DUES?
The Ministry of Education does not fund building related costs at our School. Attendance Dues are only used to pay for building related costs. They can not be used for any other purposes. Paying Attendance Dues is a condition of enrolment for all students attending our School. Attendance Dues are compulsory – there is a legal requirement for parents and caregivers to pay Attendance Dues under the Education and Training Act 2020. They are not a donation.
